In July 2015, Jason Goliath was recognised as one of Africa’s best comedians and invited to represent Africa in Montreal, Canada, at the Just For Laughs Festival. Fast forward to 2016; Jason is celebrating his 5 year industry milestone, is the host of his own late night talk show on SABC 3 – Larger Than Life, brainchild of one of the most recognisable entertainment brands in South African comedy, Goliath & Goliath and the proud co-owner of Africa’s first premium comedy club in Melrose Arch, The Goliath Comedy Club.

With a commanding stage presence, ridiculous amounts of energy and a character based set focused on making audiences laugh at life’s uncomfortable truths, he has performed successfully at numerous corporate events and leading comedy rooms and events such as Blacks Only, Kings and Queens of Comedy, Johannesburg International Comedy Festival, Comedy Central International Comedy Festival, BET Experience, Melville Under Ground, AWEdnesday Comedy Jam, Comics Choice Awards Winners Lap, and many more. Jason also performed to full house audiences at the Montreux Comedy Festival in Switzerland in December 2014 and 2016.

With more than 12 years professional MC experience Jason also takes on facilitation roles and has done so for Standard Bank, FNB, Bidvest, Stanlib, Deloitte, Vodacom, DSTV / Multichoice and SAA to mention a few.

The larger than life comedian is also no stranger to TV. Jason has also featured as the lead in a number of TV ads including Castle Lager, First For Women, Tiger Wheel and Tyre, CTM, Mobicell, Sasol, Bar One and Wimpy to name a few. Jason was also on SABC 3’s Strictly Come Dancing and starred as Gatiep in SABC 1’s sitcom Ses’ Top La.

Jason was the host of entertainment-based in-studio comedy talk show on SABC 3 titled Larger Than Life. The show focused on celebrity interviews with a live studio audience and aims to provide viewers with the best medicine one could attain: Laughter.

You can watch him as he takes on an exciting role as presenter on SABC 3’s highly acclaimed show, Man Cave. Fondly known as the STRANGLEY SEXY FAT GUY, Jason started comedy as a hobby 5 years ago. It soon became his passion and a career he was destined for after being nominated as Best Newcomer in the 2012 and Breakthrough Act in 2013, 2014 and 2015 for the Comics Choice Awards. With his strong business acumen and marketing background, Jason started entertainment company Goliath & Goliath – the brand soon became synonymous with South African comedy and won Comic’s Choice Awards – Best Friend of Comedy in 2015.

Africa’s first premium comedy club, The Goliath Comedy Club launched in April 2016 and designed to give local acts an international quality stage and environment to showcase and enhance their craft while hopefully attracting international acts to South Africa. Creating a hub and home for comedy in South Africa with the right partners is the goal for the Goliath and Goliath team.

The Goliath Comedy Club comprising of all four Goliath’s (Jason, Kate, Nicholas and Donovan Goliath) in association and collaboration with Tony Raciti, owner of The Venue Melrose Arch, has been very successful in creating and positioning the club and Melrose Arch as the premium comedy and lifestyle destination in Africa. They club has already attracted heavy weight comedians such as Loyiso Gola, Joey Rasdien and Marc Lottering. International visitors such as actor Laurence Fishburne and comic Orlando Jones have also made an appearance and performed at the club.
